GUWAHATI: Police arrested a 60-year-old man on Monday in Assam’s Kamrup district on charges of raping a woman on Sunday. Three other accused in the case are still absconding.
The arrested man has been identified as Habibur Rahman while the names of the other accused are Abdul Mannan, Samsher Ali and Mazid Ali.
Sontoli Police said that the incident took place at Jawkatadia village in Boko in Kamrup district. “As per the complaint, the woman was taken to a paddy field and raped by three men when she went out with them on the pretext of lending her money. Later, the three brought the woman to the residence of Habibur where they continued to rape her there,” police said.
The woman was rescued by the locals from Habibur’s residence and they have filed a complaint against them. “When a police team reached Habibur’s place on Monday after the complaint was received, Abdul, Samsher and Mazid had already fled the place, ” police said.
