Covid-19 spreading faster in Mizoram than rest of NE | Guwahati News

GUWAHATI: The Covid-19 situation in Mizoram is deteriorating at a faster rate than the rest of the NE states even as Assam, which is the most populated state in the region, remains at the top with maximum number of active cases and fatalities.
Barring Manipur, which has nearly 5,000 active cases, the other states so far have adequate beds, ICUs and ventilators.

Owing the to surge in cases, a large number of patients are undergoing treatment on the floor of the state-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal East, portraying a grim scene witnessed in metro cities of the country.
Advisor to Manipur CM MLA Sapam Ranjan Singh said the number of Covid care centres has been increased across the state and supply of medical oxygen in hospitals is enhanced as well.
Stating that JNIMS authorities are extending their best efforts to manage the excess number of patients, Ranjan said an extra 100-bed dedicated Covid ward would be set up there soon for which the process has already been started.
Mizoram has an active caseload of 2010, which is the second lowest after Arunachal Pradesh’s 1,924 active cases on Tuesday.
In NE, Covid growth rate lowest in Tripura
At 1924, Arunachal Pradesh has the least number of active cases, while Mizoram has the least number of fatalities

Mizoram state nodal officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma said there was no problem about ICUs, ventilators and oxygen supply as of now even as the case count is increasing daily.
