Bengaluru: Chinese short-video app TikTok said it is in the process of complying with the government order that bans 59 Chinese apps, including theirs but added that it does not share any Indian user’s information with the Chinese government.

It added that it has been invited to meet government officials to respond and submit clarifications.

“TikTok continues to comply with all data privacy and security requirements under Indian law and has not shared any information of our users in India with any foreign government, including the Chinese government,” said Nikhil Gandhi, Head of TikTok India.

On Monday, the government banned 59 Chinese mobile applications, including top social media platforms such as TikTok, Helo, and WeChat, to counter the threat posed by these applications to the country’s “sovereignty and security,” it said in a press release.

ByteDance’s two popular apps TikTok and Helo were taken down from Google and Apple app stores.
